Cones of Light is an architectural concept for the passenger terminal of Omsk-Fedorovka Airport in Omsk Region, Russia, designed by KPLN Architects in 2024. The design is inspired by the history of Omsk, which was founded as a fortress on Russia's southern Siberian frontier. KPLN Architects transformed the image of a wooden ostrog — a Siberian log fortress — into 128 giant inverted cones that bring daylight into the terminal by day and glow as illuminated landmarks at night. The concept has received a Gold award at the International Architecture & Design Awards (IADA) 2026, won the Urban Design & Architecture Design Awards 2025, earned the Silver Award of the Union of Architects of Russia at the XXXII International Architecture Festival Zodchestvo 2024 and received a diploma at the Golden Section Architecture Festival.
