The Mitkovo Multifunctional Urban Development is a master planning and urban regeneration project in Moscow, designed by KPLN Architects in 2024. The project covers a total area of 379,291 m². Its urban concept focuses on creating a connected, mixed-use environment that brings together residential blocks, public spaces, social infrastructure, and landscaped areas. The planning concept is inspired by the idea of flow. A continuous pedestrian route runs through the entire site, forming the main compositional axis of the development. Residential neighbourhoods, public spaces, community facilities, and green areas are arranged along this route, creating an integrated network of pedestrian connections. The project also reflects the historical memory of the site. A water feature and a multi-level amphitheatre near the cultural centre occupy the location of a historic pond. The alignment of the pedestrian boulevard echoes the course of a river that now runs through an underground culvert. In this way, traces of the area's natural history are reinterpreted within a contemporary urban framework. KPLN Architects’ proposal takes a comprehensive approach to urban regeneration, placing walkability, public spaces, landscape design, and historical continuity at the heart of a diverse and people-oriented urban environment.
